Great total of £92.04 raised for Children in Need - at The Festival of Senses.

What a lovely weekend - the Festival of Senses goes from strength to strength. Lots of extra activity and lots and lots of interest from people from far and wide across South and Mid Wales.

It was also a pleasure to share a tented space with my fellow stallholders - Denise and Sonia [and their little helpers] from Shabby Chicks; Lindi [and her family] from Lindi Harrison Handcrafted Jewellery; Jenny from the Pottery Shed; Kelly [and her family] from Kelly Edwards Skincare; and Judy from the Knitwear Stall.

Although we were really tested by the weather conditions - thankfully, just the cold and not the torrential rains of last year's festival - we supported each other through the Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday with hot drinks [ a great hot chocolate from the Fairtrade stand in the food marquee]; Welsh cakes - the cranberry, white chocolate and oragne being the firm favourites, but the traditional cakes warm and straight off the griddle were fantastic too; shoulder and neck Emmett treatments for those in need on the day and a great deal of enthusiasm and fun.

So where do I sign up for next year???????????

Hope everyone enjoyed attending. I will be announcing the amount raised for Children in Need at my stall through donations for the raffle entry later in the week and those lucky winners will also be contacted by Thursday at the latest.

Well - haven't had a minute to say or do anything on the blog for a few weeks!

The Cardiff Natural Living Show proved to be a real success for me - lots of you stopped by to say hello and many benefitted from a short taster treatment of either Bowen or Emmett at the stand.

More people joined the 'Hands in the Air' club with the Emmett technique helping to improve range of movement for painful and restricted shoulders. [See Labyrinth Magazine issue one for my article on the Emmett technique and a description of one of my clients who now greets me by waving both hands in the air following treatment for shoulder / elbow problems]

Congratulations to those of you who also entered the free raffle - if you haven't been notified by now, then I'm afraid you haven't been lucky this time. Don't forget to book your treatment sessions at any of my locations.

It was lovely to meet up with some of the stall holders from last Cardiff Show and also with other Bowen and Emmett therapists from the area.

Thank you all for coming to see me at the Natural Living Show at the LC2 leisure Centre in Swansea last weekend.

It was my first time to exhibit and the size of the show and the attendance numbers were a lovely surprise.

Sketty Therapies was well represented as Cheryl Key [Physio and Craniosacral Therapist] and Su George [Reiki, Massage - indian head, holistic, thai, Hot stone, baby massage, Crystal Therapy, Stress management, Organic beauty treatments, Personnal Health Screening and Neal's Yard Remedies consultant] and I had stands alongside one another. We offered taster sessions on both days and the uptake was very impressive.

For those of you who took part in my raffle the winners will be contacted separately by the weekend.

Hello everyone!

Just to let you know that the Emm-Tech course in Carmarthen is fully subscribed and starts tomorrow!

Also the Cowbridge course has now attracted 6 participants - which is wonderful. There is a possibility of taking two more at this venue - it has more physical space than the teaching room at Carmarthen.

So why wait until the New Year - join us know and be one of the first people in South Wales to complete the Emm-Tech course.

2011 dates for courses will be announced soon - with several people showing interest already. If you want to be kept in touch with new course dates then please e-mail me - and I will add you to my mailing list for Emm-Tech courses.

If you have a minimum of 6 people who want to attend a course - it may very well be feasible to hold the course at your own venue. Please e-mail me for further discussion. I am happy to run courses for groups of carers; sports coaches; therapists.

Watch out for the new October newsletter - which is having to wait until the end of the Ryder Cup!!

Unfortunately, Wales has, today, lived up to its reputation of being a wet place. Let's hope tomorrow brings better and brighter weather. Onward and upward - the European team :)

Emm-Tech courses - Easy Muscle Management for Every Body

Judith is now able to offer courses in South Wales for people who are interested in learning a number of very useful procedures to help with neck, shoulder, leg, grip and balance restrictions.

This course is open to non-therapists as well as those therapists wanting to experience the Emmett technique. The following is an excerpt from the Emmett technique UK website:

Emm-Tech short course
Easy Muscle Management for EveryBody

The Emm-Tech short course was created by Ross Emmett so that non-therapists would have the opportunity to use some of his work to help friends and family.

Ross has licensed several qualified Emmett Therapists in the UK to act as Tutors for the Emm-Tech course and courses are held at different locations throughout the UK.  The course is of eight hours duration, arranged into two four hour sessions which are usually from one day to two weeks apart.  No prior experience is necessary, so the course can be taken by anyone.  It is of particular interest to Sports Coaches and Trainers; Carers for the Elderly; General Carers; parents or as a taster for therapists who may be considering taking the professional qualification.

This course does not, on its own, constitute a professional qualification and participants are advised to seek professional help where appropriate.

One Year on ......

The expansion of Every Body's Better means that more people from a wider area of South Wales, have been helped by Bowen & Emmett techniques.

Talk to any busy therapist and they will tell you that clients tend to come in 'groups'. How this works no one can say for certain - but this first year of Every Body's Better has shown a definite trend towards helping people with neck pain or restriction; frozen shoulders and tennis elbows. I would say approximately 50% of new clients have been to see me for these problems.

The other 40% have had a range of problems from Sciatica; Knee pain; Chronic Fatigue; Parkinson's Disease; upper & lower back pain; Iliotibial Band Syndrome [outer thigh pain] and problems of pain during and after giving birth.

A small but growing group of young children with breathing problems related to asthma and also young babies with symptoms of colic have also wanted to try these gentle techniques with good success rates.

So............ Don't sit back and endure your pain; ditch that discomfort by trying Emmett and Bowen techniques for yourself !

Thanks to all those people who came to this lovely event. It was wonderful to be able to work alongised my therapy colleagues from Alliance Therapies in Carmarthen to show local people what we had to offer them.

It was hot and sunny the whole weekend and even though there were other, bigger events going on in the area that weekend we saw a very large number of people of all ages.

Looking forward next to the Mother and Toddler Show at The Liberty stadium in Swansea on the 18th of this month and  large Bike event in the Carmarthen Showground in August. Let's hope the weather is good for that showground event.

What a great time we had at the Open Day. I enjoyed meeting old and new clients alike. It was a very busy day with lots of people coming to view the lovely new premises in Blue Street. My fingertips were busy all day showing people what Emmett Technique can do to help with restricted neck and shoulder movements. It's been lovely to see some of you come for full hour long sessions since the Open day. Of course, Bowen and Emmett can help so much more than neck and shoulder problems

Just to say thank you to Tracey for organising us all so well at these fun days.

Safety and Fun together seemed to cancel each other out in my mind before I went to these events.

I think all who attended certainly had fun and went home with their car seats thoroughly checked out and safe.

I must say too, that I for one, had a couple of great days  [even though my feet needed a long hot soak at the end of each day - testing out the great BowTech product called Lectric Soda Chrystals - more on this and other products will be coming soon to the online shop area of the website]

Having met lots of lovely people I felt my sense of fun restored.

Many people kept the seat of my treatment chair warm throughout Wednesday and Thursday and I hope they enjoyed the mini Indian Head Massage or, if they had muscle tension, that they went away having experienced the wonderfully light finger-tip touch of the Emmett technique and had regained some of the range of movement they had lost in their shoulders or necks.

Some of you lost no time in booking for your full treatment and I am looking forward to seeing many more people who either exhibited or attended these fun days.

Keep smiling and for those people who were given advice on gentle exercises after treatment - keep up the good work that was started this week.

Next up is the larger Natural Health Show in Cardiff - I am eagerly awaiting my new Lectric Soda supplies - so that the old feet can soak away the ache of being stood on for 8 - 9 hours each day!!

In order to be able to help more people from a wider area of South Wales, Every Body's Better with Bowen & Emmett therapy is expanding and an additional treatment venue is now available in the centre of picturesque Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

This will allow existing clients to reduce their travel time and allow easier access to these great techniques for new clients. The aim is to have Bowen & Emmett techniques available in the South Wales area from Carmarthenshire to the Vale of Glamorgan for a full 5 days a week.

Treatments are availble by pre-booked appointment in Cowbridge from March 22nd 2010.  Treatments are available in Llandeilo and Swansea as normal.

Don't forget to pass the good news on to your friends who may now be able to benefit from these wonderful techniques.

Don't forget to book for your free session if you have bladder problems - only 4 left now - results looking very good so far.

It seems that some people have longer lasting effects and others need more regular treatment. But as the procedure only takes a maximum of 10 minutes from start to finish then coming to see me once ever 2-3 months is a price worth paying for a happy bladder.

Hello again - just signing in to say that everything went well with the launch of Every Body's Better in Swansea. Thank goodness for lifts - as my new room is on the 6th floor. Carrying a treatment table and all sorts of other bits and pieces was made a lot easier! Everything felt right - the reception security men were very welcoming and helpful; the room was quiet and peaceful; my first clients were happy with the new location and that's all a great start.

It was also good to meet a few of my new neighbours at the Glyn Vivian Gallery; at Celfi - a lovely little craft and gift shop in the building which previously housed the Central Library and also the reception staff at Burns Gym. I hope to make it round to see a lot more people over the next few weeks.

Look forward to welcoming you all - existing and new clients who want to experience the gentle, effective techniques of Bowen & Emmett. Also available will be Indian Head  Massage, where hopefully the people working in the building and in surrounding offices will be able to take a short break in their working day to let the aches and pains in their necks and shoulders be soothed away!

Hello all,

Following a very fortuitous phone call, I have now negotiated a new treatment location to replace the one that has recently closed in Gowerton.

I will be offering Bowen and Emmett Techniques in central Swansea for the first time at

1 Alexandra Road, Swansea, SA1 5ED.

I will continue at Llandeilo as usual and I will be contactable as normal by phone or e-mail.

All this is to start on March 10th 2010 - so next week here we come !

Due to unforeseen circumstances and at very short notice this week, the Complementary Therapy centre at Gowerton has ceased trading and the room I was renting is no longer available to me.

Whilst I am looking for a permanent clinic location in Swansea, my clients in this area who cannot travel to Llandeilo, will be offered a mobile service. But watch this space, I am on the case ........ !

Having just returned from a very enjoyable Emmett study day I am feeling refreshed and excited about the new techniques I have learnt!

One of the most exciting was a technique to help with bladder problems - to help with stress incontinence / leakage / urgency to get to the toilet.

It was a lovely two days - great to meet so many families with young babies and all you beautiful pregnant women.

Saturday was partcularly busy with helping to reduce the low back pain that comes with pregnancy and also to help all those others with neck and shoulder pain and restriction.

Hi everyone

Great time at Maud's Mother and Baby Show in Carmarthen on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was extremely busy for me - my treatment chair was busy all day !  Thank you all for coming to see me and letting me show you what wonderful techniques Bowen and Emmett are. Several people came with sore and stiff necks and upper backs whilst many other were suffering from low back pain and sciatica - especially those that were heavily pregnant.
