Hello & welcome to the Easter Newsletter from Every Body’s Better

The months are flying by! This lovely sunshine that we’ve been having lifts the spirits tremendously.

It has been a very busy start to this year for me and for Every Body’s Better.

For those of you who use my website [or any of the websites for the therapy centres where I see clients] to gather information about either Emmett or Bowen Techniques, I feel it’s important to let you know that all complementary therapists [of all types] are currently being scrutinised by the Advertising Standards Agency and so we find it impossible to advertise that we can help people with any medical condition unless we have absolute clinical evidence that the therapies we use can help these conditions. Many Complementary Therapies do not have this evidence based clinical research and so we are being confined to using vague and general descriptions about the sorts of problems we feel we can help you with. Sorry about this - if you need any further information do not hesitate to contact me.

·        Positive Pregnancy Plus

Alliance Therapy practitioners have been working for a few months now to build on our interest in providing maternity services for the people of Carmarthenshire. There are currently five practitioners working together to promote our services  called Positive Pregnancy Plus – focussing initially on Pregnancy and, over the next few months developing a support service for fertility and also for mother and baby after the birth. [Not forgetting Dad’s needs too!] Initial therapies on offer will include Pregnancy Reflexology; Aromatherapy & Lymphatic Drainage; Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs; Hydrotherm Massage and also Emmett & Bowen Techniques. Other therapists may join over the next months; the focus being to provide support for the pregnant woman throughout her pregnancy and to work alongside and complement the current NHS based midwifery care.

See the Alliance Therapy website for further details: www.therapiescarmarthen.com. We will be launching our new brochure at Child Fun Safety Day in Carmarthen Leisure Centre on 19th April – see information below on this event.

·        New connections with sport and industry

I am currently negotiating some work at a local manufacturing company – to offer short Emmett treatments for the employees to ease discomfort and restore movement. This is a general trend in Australia [the home of the Emmett Technique] with therapists working in Health Promotion and Injury Prevention within some of the large organisations such as Railway companies and the mining industry. The reduction in lost workdays has been dramatic in some of these companies and use of the Emmett Technique is set to expand – watch this space.

If you are interested in discussing what the Emmett Technique could do at your workplace do ring me to discuss the possibilities.

If you want to keep in touch with what is happening in the Emmett Therapies organisation internationally, you can subscribe to the latest Emm-Chat newsletter at the following web-address:

I am also about to explore working with the Cardiff Based Tiger Bay Brawlers – a Roller Derby team. This fast growing women’s roller skate based sport is popular all over the world – especially in the US. The last few years has seen a big growth in interest and in teams all over the UK. My own daughter is training with the London Roller Girls and suggested that I contact the local teams to offer them Emmett Technique as the skating position puts a lot of strain on the hips, knees and ankles.

I have seen Roller Derby online – lots on You-Tube – but it will be fun to go to a training session and see how the Emmett Technique might help them! Will let you know how I get on. Their website is: http://tigerbaybrawlers.com/

If you are involved in sport at any level then do have a look at the Emmett technique to help release muscle tension. If you / your sports team or organisation would like to experience this technique do get in touch to see what we can organise. Also the Emm-Tech course is very suitable for sports coaches and trainers.

·        New ‘Emmetteers’  in Swansea

We had a great few days in Swansea last month – with 9 new Emm-Tech participants gaining their attendance certificates. 7 people completed the course held at Revue Studios in Wind Street and two more completed their course at Sketty Therapies during the month. Pictures will be on my website over this coming week. Congratulations to all! I had a great time – I hope you did too.

I spent a lovely day with Ross Emmett and the other UK tutors in Birmingham last week, reviewing the Emm-Tech course and sharing information with potential tutors who will be coming to join the tutoring team over the course of this year.

·        Every Body’s Better is now your local stockists for BowTech products

Just to let you know that I am a stockist of a range of products produced by the BowTech organisation. I will have supplies at the treatment centres in Sketty, Llandeilo and Carmarthen, but will also have supplies available when I travel to Cowbridge or at local events.  This includes BowTech Ease and Lectric Soda Crystals. For further information about what is available please have a look at the distributors website which is at:

http://www.bowtechease.com

·        Nature’s Little Helpers bring out a new moisturiser for face and body

Just to let you know that the Nature’s Little Helpers team have just produced a lovely new face and body cream which has Aloe Vera, Japanese White Tea Extract and Goat’s Milk and also the honey base that is produced from the local beehives. The balms, soaps and candles did really well at The Magic Market Place  at Revue Studios last weekend with the lovely soothing balm [with calendula and chamomile] sold out almost instantly. The other popular items were the face cream, the original lip balm and the Organic hand and body balm.

·        Where to catch up with me this coming month

I will be at the Child Fun Safety Days run by Carmarthenshire County Council at leisure centres on Tuesday 19th April in Carmarthen and Wednesday 20th April in Ammanford.

On May 7th I will be at the Brecon Festival – with taster sessions plus products available.

·        Tips on:

ü  stopping slouching in the car

Just a quick tip on monitoring your seating position whilst driving. I have found that as any driving journey goes on, I am seeing less out of my rear view mirror – because I am slouching over the wheel or getting more tense in my arms and shoulders, taking me closer to the steering wheel. This means that I am aching getting out of the car after even a short journey.

One of the things that we all do regularly is to use the rear view mirror. Quite simply, I have found that by adjusting the mirror when I get into the car whilst I am seated in a good posture, I am now able to re-adjust my position away from the slouch by being aware not only of the traffic behind me but the yawning gap that is opening up between my back and the seat. Being aware is 80% of the battle. If you are aware you can correct your position – if you are not aware – what can you do!!!

ü  Cramp

I have shared this tip with many clients already. With the London Marathon coming up this weekend I thought I would share it with you again.

If you suffer from cramp anywhere in the body, most commonly the calf muscles and the feet, then you may want to try putting pressure with the tip of your tongue on a point inside the lower lip - that little stringy bit between your lip and the gum around your lower teeth – and keeping the pressure on it until the cramp starts to fade away.

This tip was shared with me as a technique used by the Tibetan Monks whilst at their meditation – they can’t move during this time and use the tip of the tongue to great effect. Try it and see whether it helps you! Let me know your results with this one.

Good Luck to those of you running in the London Marathon on Sunday!

Don’t forget to send any comments on your Emm-Tech training or testimonials for inclusion on my website.

Have a lovely Easter

Judith
