Emmett Technique

The Emmett Technique is a unique body therapy technique created by Ross Emmett [hence 'Emmett' technique] who is a very experienced remedial practitioner based in Queensland, Australia.

The technique uses the application of light pressure at specific points and in sequences that enable muscle groups to gently release and relax.

Emmett can be used as a treatment on it's own to ease pain and discomfort and may benefit a range of other conditions. The technique also works alongside a range of other therapies, including the Bowen Technique, complementing the results.

The use of this therapy will be guided by the specific needs of the individual client, through assessment and observation.

Treatments are usually carried out fully clothed, although tight clothing may have to be loosened. [e.g. it's not a good idea to wear tight jeans for treatment as it is difficult to work through thick denim, especially the seams]. Lighter, looser clothing is recommended.

The Emmett Technique is new to the UK, but is being integrated into the practise of complementary and other therapists.

Emm-Tech

The interesting development for non-therapists is that Ross Emmett has encouraged his techniques to be taught at a basic level to people who have no training in complementary or traditional medicine.

This makes the technique available to all who may want to help relieve pain for their relatives or friends, for staff in care homes, for sports teams etc.

This short version of the Emmett Technique is called 'Emm-Tech'; each course lasting approximately 8 hours - either done in one day or in two half days.

Judith has joined the small number of Emmett practitioners who have been approved by Ross Emmett to teach Emm-Tech in the UK and will be offering Emm-Tech courses regularly in Wales and at your own location if you have 8 - 12 people who would like to learn this technique.

One of Judith's ambitions is to take Emm-Tech courses across the rest of Wales - it's a case of 'have Emmett Fingers - will travel'. If you have an interest and you can get a group together please get in touch soon.
